How to Get Rid of Yellow Teeth?

Tooth colour and tooth structure determined by DNA vary from person to person. Contrary to general belief, the tooth structure does not actually have a white colour. For this reason, we cannot say that someone with a yellow tooth colour has a disease in their teeth. The main problem is not the congenital yellow tones, but the yellow teeth stains. What is the actual cause of these yellow discolourations and how can we get rid of yellow teeth?

  • Inadequate dental care: It is necessary to brush our teeth at least twice a day, use dental floss to remove the remains of the food between the teeth and use tooth wash to prevent bacteria formation.
  • Enamel Erosion: Frequent consumption of hard, acidic, very cold or very hot food and beverage can damage tooth enamel, as well as tooth enamel, and can be caused by enamel erosion. Therefore, we should avoid very hard, acidic, very hot or very cold food and beverage.
  • Mischoice of the food: Particularly spices and sauces can stick to the tooth surface and cause staining or yellowing that’s why overconsumption of the spices and sauces is not recommended
  • Smoking: The damage caused by smoking to the teeth is countless. Overconsumption of tobacco may not only damage teeth but also cause gum disease and even oral cancer. Those who smoke excessively usually have yellow-toned teeth. It is very difficult to find an effective and permanent treatment method without reducing cigarette consumption. Because with the use of tobacco after each treatment, the teeth will return to their original teeth shade.  The most recommended method is to provide an appropriate oral care routine after quitting smoking and, if necessary, to restore your teeth to their former health with dental treatment.
  • Drug use: According to studies, excessive drug use, especially antibiotics, can cause stains on the teeth. That’s why we shouldn’t use drugs unless we have to use the. In particular, we should avoid overconsumption of antibiotics.
  • Some Diseases: Cancer patients who have chemotherapy, radiation, and radiation treatments may have a yellow-toned tooth structure due to the chemical reaction in their bodies. Therefore, in this process, we should consult our dentist and pay more attention to our teeth with a proper dental cleaning routine.
  • Bruxism: Bruxism is a habit of clenching and grinding teeth. People with this habit do not do it on purpose, it happens unconsciously. Therefore, it is difficult to control. When we grind our teeth, there is intense pressure and this pressure can crack or thin our tooth enamel. The yellow dentin under the thinning, cracked tooth enamel is exposed and the tooth shade becomes yellowish. To prevent this, plaque can be used while sleeping at night, or you can prevent this problem with an alternative bruxism treatment by making an appointment with your dentist.
